“The library means collection of book or store of books”
The oxford dictionary defines the word library as “ A building or room containing collections of books, periodicals, and sometimes films and recorded music for use or borrowing by the public or the members of an institution a university. we can also call library as “The house of treasure of knowledge”The person who runs library is called librarian. To run library a master’s degree in library science is required for most professional librarian positions. Any person can work in a library without a master’s degree. However, it would be in a support staff role. These include positions such as library assistants and technicians.
The role of library in our lives is very valuable.
A library is organized for use and maintained by a public body, an institution, a corporation, or a private individual. There are various types of library which are very useful for human being like school library , public library , college library , university library , special library , medical center library , personal library at home . These all libraries have lot of verities of books contains different subjects.
Schools libraries:
School libraries are very important part of schools. These libraries are very useful for students as well as for teachers. With the help of school libraries students can get books related to their subjects and extra books to collect knowledge to write notes for examinations. Teachers can also gets books from school libraries to give extra detailed knowledge to their students during lecture in classes. The school libraries helps to develops, promotes and implements a program that will help prepare students to be effective users of ideas and information, a lifelong skill.
Personal library :
Any student and any person can built his personal library in his / her home. He / she can collected different books from surrounding to make his/her library. For personal library we can fix one room in home and arrange book shelf , study table to enjoy books reading.
Public library :
Public library means (National Center for Education Statistics) we can define public library as the “FSCS” Federal-State Cooperative System State Data Coordinators).the public library is established under state enabling laws or regulators to serve a community, district, or region, and that provides at least 1 ; an organized collection of printed or other library materials, or a combination thereof; 2) paid staff; 3) an established schedule in which services of the staff are available to the public; 4) the facilities necessary to support such a collection, staff, and schedule; and 5) is supported in whole or in part with public funds. Public library play very vital role for the public of area where its established.
Academic Libraries:
The libraries which established in college and universities are called academic libraries. Academic libraries can be used by the students of college/university , staff of college/university , faculty of college/university. Colleges and universities are big educational centers so they have many libraries in their campus to faceplate their students , staff and faculty members. Today’s academic librarians are involved in a variety of challenging activities.
Special libraries:
We can find the definition of special library in any dictionary as “a library maintained by an organization, as a business, association, orgovernment agency, to collect materials and provide information of special relevance to the work of the organization.
Special libraries can be built at some very special places like corporations, hospitals, the military, museums, law firms, advertising agencies, professional associations, private businesses, and the government. These libraries can be used by professional person who are related with special profession.
